Dromara woman Diane continues a year of success with another victory

Dromara mountain-runner Diane Wilson has continued her sterling form by winning the ladies’ race at last weekend’s Garmin Mourne Skyline Mountain-Trail Race 2015.

The Dromore Athletics Club runner was delighted with her time of 4:33:26. Her time was only 9 minutes behind the record set in 2014 by current Skyrunner World Series Champion Stevie Kremer, who was unable to take part in this year’s race.

Diane said: “I started the season with an injury, so I am really thrilled at coming home first. I had a steady first half, followed by a strong second half, but it was really tough, heavy going at times, particularly around Slieve Bearnagh. Overall, I really enjoyed it!”

The second lady home was Helen Brown of Mynydd Du, Wales, at 4:42:12, and third place went to newly-crowned NI Mountain Running Association Champion Shileen O’Kane on 4:50:19.

Diane has had a stunning season, completing a career goal of winning the Ben Nevis race last month.
