BANBRIDGE Town U10's made the short trip to Dromore to take on Dromore Amateurs in the last game before the league split.

A win may have lifted them into the top half, although other results would have to go their way. Banbridge kicked off and went straight at Dromore who looked shell shocked. Two good through balls from Donnelly and McCavitt found Redpath but he couldn't find the target.

Some good wing play by Annett and the tough tackling Quigley produced a throw, taken quickly to McCavitt who crossed to the near post for Redpath to tap in.

Dromore started to find more space and pushed for an equaliser before the half time break. The Banbridge defence were working overtime to keep them at bay. When a Dromore striker appeared to beat the keeper, Russell, who was having a great game at right back, cleared off the line.

Banbridge were forced into a change at half time with Savage coming off injured. On came Moore, who made some good tackles in defence.

Both teams looked edgy as the second half got under way and it was an unlucky bounce which lead to Dromore's equaliser. On came Wilson to try and swing things for Banbridge.

Both teams pushed on as they could sense victory. Donnelly seemed to cover every blade of grass on the right as he tracked back to help his fullback and pressed forward trying to create chances.

This time it was Dromore's turn to attack as the shot came in it was blocked by Woods, the rebound fell to another striker who fired again forcing Hunter into a fine save.

Annett went on another lung bursting run, beating two defenders before sliding the ball to Redpath, whose first cross was blocked and the second pushed wide.

Dromore's winning goal was somewhat fortunate, Banbridge didn't deserve to be 2-1 down as their defence had played so well. Annett, Donnelly and Redpath had chances to level it at the end but it wasn't to be.

So with the league split, Banbridge sit top of the section playing for the shield. With performances like this they have a good chance of doing well. .
