Dromore bowl over Knock Ladies

ON Saturday Dromore Ladies Firsts hosted Knock Firsts at Ferris Park.

Knock got off to a good start putting Dromore under pressure immediately. Gemma Porter and Tara Malcolmson worked hard at the back however, Knock were able to break through and score the opening goal.

Dromore kept their heads up and it didn’t take them long before the equalising goal came. Lauren Pedlow using her speed won Dromore their first penalty corner of the game and Dromore were able to convert it with Anna Martin hitting the ball past the Knock goalkeeper.

The score was level at 1-1 as half time arrived.

Knock started the second half stronger than Dromore and were quick to put the Dromore defence under pressure. As a result Knock were first to get off the mark in the second half and went 2-1 up.

However, Dromore continued to fight back with Anna Marin, Christine Robinson and Nicole Laverty working hard in the midfield to win the ball.

Dromore were rewarded for their hard work when Christine Robinson used her skills, dribbled past two Knock players and placed the ball into the circle where Emma Wilson was there to put the game level for the second time.

However, Knock were not going to give up easily and continued to fight and for the third time in the game went ahead making the score 3-2.

With only 15 minutes left Dromore had to fight hard if they were to get anything out of the game. Nicole Laverty continued to work hard in midfield causing the Knock defence to make mistakes.

Dromore were able to capitalise on this and Rachel Morrow scored Dromore’s third of the game. Dromore built on this and went on to win the match with Louise McCracken making a run up the right wing and crossing the ball into the circle where Rachel Morrow hit the post, thankfully Veronica Cummins was there to tap in the winner.

The game ended with another Dromore win and a final score of 4-3.
