Dromore bowlers hold President’s Day

A good attendance of members was present when President Derek Shanks welcomed everyone.

A competition was held with L Aiken winning the ladies prize while D McCandless took the gents prize.

Refreshments were then enjoyed after which the A.G.M. took place.

Before vacating his chair President Derek said it had been a great year for the club on the playing side the “A” team winning the Division two of the N.I.B.A.gaining promotion to Division One, the midweek team did the double winning the League and the Shield in the Newry and Mourne League.

The veterans number two team won the Stevenson Cup again. The ladies section had a great season, winning the Mary Moore Cup runners-up in the league and Joyce Kavanagh cup with M Dawson, L Aiken, J Malcomson and C Ogle being beaten in the final of the Association Championships, defeating international players on the way to the final.

Ronnie McCandless conducted the Election for season 2013. D Shanks handed over the prizes to pairs winners R Bolton and R Malcomson. M Dawson and G Clinghan were runners-up.

Monday night rinks winners were SG Malcomson, A Sudlow, C Davis, S Malcomson, C Ogle, L Gribben, G Dawson, J Black, M Ward and D Graham and the winner of Hewitt Shield selected as the clubman of the year went to W J Morgan.

The new President Hugh Maxwell took the chair and conducted the rest of the business finishing of by wishing everyone a good winter looking forward to seeing everyone in April.

The Officers and members wish members I Houston, E Walker, K Russell and G Wilson a speedy recovery get well soon.
