Dromore girls secure silver in style at Ulster Hockey Under 13 Finals Day
Thirty-six Under 13 girls’ teams met to play off for the cup and plate in their age section.
The girls play in their regional tournaments every Sunday throughout the season, culminating in all the clubs coming together for Finals Day.

Hide AdDromore’s group consisted of Knock, Ulster Elks, Pegasus, Armagh.
They had a strong start against Knock winning 1-0, with Tara Kelly coming on to score.
Next was Elks and Dromore finished two goals ahead with Tara Kelly scoring again and Thea Wilson.
They faced Pegasus who held them to a scoreless draw. Now well in their stride, they faced Armagh with Katie McDonald taking the game to a 1-0 win.

Hide AdDromore proceeded through to the next stage leading their group and having conceded no goals.
Next they faced Grosvenor who gained a goal but Dromore won strongly 3-1, with goals again from Tara Kelly, Thea Wilson and Katie McDonald.
Next up was Ballynahinch who earlier had played in a dramatic penalty runs play off. Dromore won 2-0 with goals from Tara Kelly and Ella Brown.
The girls were through to the semi finals against Bangor, Dromore won 1-0 with a goal by Thea Wilson and proceeded to the final.

Hide AdA dramatic final ensued with Dromore meeting strong side Portadown and Dromore defender Hannah Buchanan going off early to an injury from a high ball with Portadown a goal up.
The game recommenced with Portadown going on to win 3-0. Congratulations to Portadown for winning overall and well done to Dromore for taking home the silver medal in a day of excellent hockey and superb competition.
