Dromore Ladies Firsts continue winning streak

The game began with the Dromore midfield holding a strong majority of play and Rachel Morrow working the ball to the forwards.

Dromore continued to dominate play with several attempts on goal.

It wasn’t long until Dromore were able to penetrate the Owls defence and Gemma McKitterick found Lauren Pedlow who slotted the ball safely into the back of the net.

At 1-0 up, the home side continued to play the ball through from Chelsey Whan at the back through to Rachel Morrow holding the centre of the pitch.

Owls were able to gain possession and found the opportunity they needed to come back with a chance and managed to get their first goal.

With Dromore realising they needed to step up again, they came back fighting with beautiful play beginning with Sarah Wilson through to Nicole Laverty who was able to carefully lay the ball through to Hannah Russell.

Hannah carried the ball back into the Owls circle, spying Kiera Murphy waiting and delivering it into the net to the surprise of the Owls centre back and keeper.

At half time, Dromore knew they couldn’t let their standard slip.

With textbook defending from Tara Malcolmson and Amy Forsythe, the Owls attack were kept out of Dromore’s defence.

However, the away side took their chance when the regained possession and were able to slip the ball past keeper’s, Alice Winson, right leg despite her several spectacular efforts to save their attempts on target.

With the score line now level, both teams carried on to try and gain victory.

Anna Martin, Louise McKitterick and Jill Brown held the right, finding each other for the quick passes to outwit the Owls midfield.

With the clock ticking, Dromore found themselves advancing into the visitors’ circle again, when Nicki Wilson slid the ball through to Ana Clarke taking the ball on her reverse and cracking the ball through the keeper’s legs and into the back of the goal.

Dromore were now in the lead again and continued to maintain play to ensure Owls couldn’t get another chance to equalise.

The match finished 3-2 to the home side, maintaining their undefeated streak this season.
