Dromore pupils swim to glory at Irish Champs

FOLLOWING on from their success at the Ulster Secondary Schools Swimming Championships Dromore High School boys Alex and Matthew Walker represented school recently at the Irish Senior Schools Championships in Dublin.

This competition brings together school swimmers from all over Ireland, this year the competition had representation from 180 schools.

Year 10 pupil Alex, who travelled to the competition as the Ulster Schools Junior champion in the 100m fly event, had strong racing both in the heat and final of fly event and in the end had to settle for fourth place just outside the medals, a great end to the schools competitions for this young promising swimmer.

Year 12 pupil Matthew, who had claimed a second in the Ulster rankings for the 100m free went to the Irish on the weekend of his school formal and gave a steady performance, just missing out on the final and finishing overall seventh.

The Walker brothers are always up for representing their school and proud to wear the blue colours of Dromore, well done boys.
