Dromore U18s out to end on a high

The club take on old rivals Rainey tomorrow (Wednesday) in the final of the Nutty Krust U18 Floodlit Rugby Tournament at Portadown RFC’s Chambers Park.

And, as it’s set to be their last one, they’re treating it as a must-win.

Dromore High School are set to compete in the Schools’ Cup for the first time next season but, with a huge overlap between club and school teams, players will have to opt out of one or the other.

And that means this looks like being the end for Dromore RFC’s Under 18 team.

That will come as a relief to other junior sides around the area as the locals have been almost unstoppable in recent years.

Last season, they completed an historic treble by winning the Nutty Krust Floodlit Tournament, the Ulster Carpets Cup and also the league title.

Coached this year by Michael Harshaw, Dromore edged past Armagh 10-7 in the semi-final thanks to tries from Ben Heath and Gary Dillon and a man-of-the-match display by Josh Brame.

Kick-off at Chambers Park is at 7.45pm.
