Dromore win cup tie and keep league pressure up

LAST week Dromore Ladies found themselves engaged in two important games.

First up was a trip to Belfast to play Divis in a Mary Moore Trophy tie. This venue is usually difficult for visitors to work-out and indeed Dromore struggled early on to catch the proper bowling lines.

As a consequence, they went behind and had to dig deep to get back on level terms.

Having achieved parity their steadiness when faced with important shots proved crucial, enabling them to take the tie by 19 shots. The game was much closer than the final score would suggest.

Rink 1: B Lindsay, L Gribben, J Malcolmson, C Ogle - won 22-10

Rink 2: M Adair, A McGarrity, M Ward, L Aiken - won 19-12.

Two days later Dromore welcomed Wedderburn Ladies to Holm Park in a league fixture which proved to be a cliff- hanger.

Dromore needed to pick-up maximum points in order to maintain their challenge for league honours but Wedderburn had other ideas on that score.

Every shot was keenly fought over right to the last shot of the game.

The locals had smiles on their faces at the finish and were mightily relieved to have gained a four shot win and maximum points,

Rink 1: M Adair, A McGarrity, M Dawson, L Aiken - won 19-18

Rink 2: M Ward, L Gribben, J Malcolmson, C Ogle - won 14-11

Dromore will play two more league matches this week.
