Drummond sets the pace for Larne AC at Belfast Marathon

Larne Athletic Club had a very successful outing at Monday’s Belfast City Marathon seven members running the full 26.2 miles and eight relay teams taking part, each made up of five runners.

First club finisher, and also claiming the MV40 category, was marathon veteran Sammy Drummond (24th) who completed the course in 2:56.06.

Phelim McAllister ran a personal best of 2:57.28 (28th), while Billy Thompson finished third in the MV50 category in 2:58.58 (40th).

David Noble joined the sub-three hour club in 2:59.37 (42nd).

Alan Harrison achieved a sub four-hour finish, running strongly in 3:51.31 (706th).

AlanPoag, hampered in the later stages with a knee injury, still managed a personal best of 4:11.06( 1,119th).

Amanda Voss-Rorke was the club’sonly female representative and finished in 3:51.09 (712nd).
