Duddy continues world title bid

LONDONDERRY middleweight John Duddy continues in his quest to fight for a world title this weekend when he returns to the ring to face Michael 'Murder Man' Medina, in Texas.

Duddy fights on the undercard of the Manny Pacquiao's WBO Welterweight bout against Joshua Clottey, in the Dallas Cowboys Stadium, in Arlington, and another impressive victory could possibly set up a title fight against Kelly Pavlik.

Only a year ago the Londonderry man was one victory away from taking on The Ghost, but he suffered his first professional defeat at the hands of Billy Lyell, though since then the 30-year-old has linked up with top promoter, Bob Arum and he hasn't looked back.

The Galliagh man has got back to winning ways and although the change has not been spectacular, under former trainer Harry Keitt he seems to have got the old 'never say die' Duddy attitude back.

Last October Duddy made a successful return to the ring against Michi Munoz, winning a unanimous decision, while only a few months ago he secured his first knock-out in 18 fights.

In January, Duddy easily defeated Juan Astoga in Madison Square Garden, with a technical knockout in the first round, but this weekend's contest is going to be a lot harder.

The 'Murder Man' has had 23 wins, with 18 coming by way of knock-outs and he is sure to give Duddy a tough work-out.
