Dunlops go head-to-head

Rafters Snooker Club - Monthly Handicapp Competition

GARY and William Dunlop went head-to-head in Rafter’s Monthly Handicapp Competition, both on equal handicapps and playing off scratch.

It was a tight race to get over the line to win the competition with not a motorbike in sight.

Gary broke off on the first frame but played too much safety with William going for pots and taking the frame 48 points to 15.

In the second frame William broke but Gary had seemed to have changed his game, taking on some good long pots but just as Gary thought he had gone ahead William knocked in a nice 22 clearance to take the frame. William 49 Gary 36.

Gary knocked in a 15 break in the third but it was not enough to prevent William taking the frame 51 points to 42.

Fourth frame and Gary turned the power up a bit despite William knocking in a 20 break.

Gary played some great long pots and took his first frame 58 points to William’s 36.

With the score at 3-1, William knew he was only one frame from victory.

William went full throttle for the win and knocked in a 35 break leaving Gary in trouble.

William kept the pressure on as Gary missed an easy red to the middle pocket leaving William to pot the red and colours to take the final frame 58 points to 19.

Final score: William 4 frames, Gary Dunlop 1 frame.
