Eamon leads the way for the MUSA team at Downpatrick

THE fifth round of the Mid-Ulster Senior Alliance was played at Downpatrick Golf Club last Tuesday.

Banbridge, under the captaincy of Jack Bickerstaff, had one of their most successful outings of the competition.

Eamon O’Hagan, still on cloud nine after winning the Captain’s Prize, shot a brilliant 39 points.

John Smyth, who has found a new lease of life, scored a marvellous 37 points.

Jim Ledlie, whose season just gets better and better, also returned 37 points.

For the fourth counting card, you can take either John Parkes or Sam Wilkinson. Both players finished with a commendable 34 points.

That gave Banbridge a team score of 147 points and that will surely lift them up the table.

I don’t know why, but Banbridge always seem to score well at Downpatrick. The next round is at Lurgan. That might be a different story.

The other three players at Downpatrick were Tony Ewbanks, John Poots and Bert Wilson.

The sixth round of the MUSA was played yesterday at Lurgan. The Banbridge team was as follows: Plunkett Campbell, Bobby Geddis, John Parkes, Andy Murphy, Bill O’Loughlin, Sam Wilkinson, Eamon O’Hagan and Jim Ledlie.
