Eamon seals itfor Sarsfields

Colin Stevenson in action for Sarasfields.

Sarsfields 2-10

Sarsfields started brightly and raced into a 4-1 lead thanks to the Stevenson forwards, however with poor defending, St James’ star forward Ronan Hanna got through for an early goal to give the home team an early lead.

Following a good pass from Paul McGeown, Thomas McAlinden returned a goal and a point to leave the Hoops ahead 1-5 to 1-3 at the break.

Johnny Reynolds opened the scoring with two frees early in the second half for the High Moss men. This led to a period of dominance by the Aldergrove men, playing with the wind in the second 30 minutes; two points from play followed by another Ronan Hanna goal put the home side ahead 2-6 to 1-8.

A point each was exchanged from both sides before Paul McGeown managed a second goal for the Armagh side. Two more points from play for Aldergrove led both sides into an exciting drawn score in the last five minutes.

It was down to captain Eamon McGeown to score the winning point to give Sarsfields their third Ulster league win, placing them two points clear at the top of the Group A category.

Sarsfields play their next game on Sunday against Ardboe; venue to be confirmed.
