Early start for Hilltop

IT was an early start for the Hilltop Golf Society as they travelled to Galgorm Golf Club in Ballymena on Sunday August 29.

Numbers were down as some members took the last of the holidays before the school re-start.

With only a few outings left, Clive Donaldson needed to score well to bring him back to the top of the leader board. Handing in his card, Clive looked pleased with 31 points earned in windy conditions and this seemed a respectable tally.

However Clive's joy was short-lived as Brian Groves, his arch rival, kept up his winning streak, hitting 35 points and a clear winner on the day.

Having missed a few outings took its toll, as Rob Hall could not get to grips with the conditions, resulting in 18 points and the best trier prize.

Results: first - Brian Groves, 35 points. Second - Ian Wilson, 32. Third and longest drive - Clive Donaldson, 31. Nearest the pin - Phillip Moorhead; Front nine - Aaron Clydesdale; Back nine - Roy Annett.

The Society would like to thank Phillip Moorhead for his kind sponsorship on the day. Next on the agenda will be Captain's Day going to Concra Wood on 17 October - all guests welcome.

On a sad note, everyone at the Hilltop Golf Society would like to extend their deepest sympathies to the Wilson family following the tragic death of little Stuart.

Everyone connected to the society was devastated to hear of the passing of six-year-old Stuart - youngest son of Gary and Heather. Gary is a life-long highly respected and dedicated member of the Hilltop Society and a past captain.
