Early strikes secure points for Mossley

Kilkeel 2

Mossley 3

MOSSLEY edged out Kilkeel thanks to a Chris O‘Flaherty brace and an early Mark Smyth strike.

The Glade men showed purpose in their play from the start and found themselves ahead after five minutes. Tim Moreland delivered a neat pass to set up Mark Smyth to score at the far post.

Within a minute Mossley went two up when Chris O’Flaherty drove home a short corner, but Kilkeel came back into the game on 18 minutes when Niblock narrowed the gap with a strong strike.

The visitors steadied themselves and on 27 minutes O’Flaherty scored his second and Mossley’s third when he converted another penalty corner.

The end-to-end game didn’t stop there as Eddie Agnew of Kilkeel closed the gap on 33 minutes.

After the break both teams worked hard to get the next goal, but as is so often the case after a high-scoring first half, no further goals were scored and the Glademen went home with maximum points.

Man of the match: Richard Johnston.

Other scores: Banbridge III 2, Mossley II 1; Mossley III 4, Newry II 2; Mossley V 4, Cookstown VI 0; North Down V 2, Mossley VI 1.
