East Antrim League round-up

Young 8 Old 8

Ballyeaston First Presbyterian became the latest team to record what was considered a rare feat, scoring eight shots in one end.

Remarkably, this is the third time this has occurred in the league this season with the rink having the largest age range.

Barn on right road

Barn United travelled to Ballycarry Old Presbyterian hoping to gain another win and keep their challenge for the top positions alive. Often Barn have been burned at away venues in previous seasons but there is an air of confidence around the team that they have their best squad for a number of years.

S Mullen and D Burns guided their rinks to an aggregate 20-shot advantage securing the win bonus. The two second half quartets were under pressure to claim the full points with B Forsyth obliging for one point. Barn’s dream of seven points was halted by R Nelson who encouraged his rink to a six shot win. A heavy points defeat to rivals Carrick is Barn’s only loss to date. They remain in the title hunt but will have to defeat both the top two teams.
