East Tyrone's Harvey breaks into senior ranks

East Tyrone Cycling Club rookie Harvey Barnes placed an excellent fourth in his first open race against senior opposition at the Phoenix Grand Prix.

Harvey, who raced for Cycling Ireland at the Youth Olympic Cycling Festival in Georgia at the end of July last year, has made quite a name for himself on the track in youth circles.

However, in last weekend’s A3 Event at the Nutts Corner circuit he took on senior riders for the first time.

East Tyrone’s club runs for racing members continue on Sunday mornings leaving Asda Car Park at 8.45 am.

Newcomers are welcome to join the club’s leisure group which also meets on Sunday mornings leaving Oldtown Street Cookstown at 9.30 am for a 2/3 hour cycle at non-racing pace.
