Easter fun for youngsters

NORTHERN Ireland manager Michael O’Neill is calling on all budding young footballers to get ready for an Easter full of fun.

The new international boss has given his backing to the Irish FA’s Easter Soccer Schools programme.

Co-ordinated by the Irish FA’s Grassroots Development Officers and staffed by qualified coaches, the Soccer Schools are the ideal way to get your children active during the Easter break. Run at venues across the country over three consecutive days, the Soccer Schools are open to boys and girls aged between five and 14 years.

Encouraging young players from across the country to take part in this year’s programme, the international boss said: “I would encourage all boys and girls to go along to their local Irish FA Easter Soccer School. The coaches will help you improve all aspects of your game like dribbling, passing, control and shooting. To improve as a player it is important that you listen to the coaches on grassroots programmes like this one, as they have the experience and knowledge on what is needed to make you a better player. And as well as learning new skills, you will also make new friends and have loads of fun playing football.”

Irish FA Head of Grassroots Football, Lee Carroll said: “The Easter Soccer Schools guarantee children three full days packed with fun and exciting activities to help them develop as footballers. Expert, fully qualified coaches will look to develop many of the aspects needed to be a top footballer, such as dribbling, passing, shooting etc all in a fun, educationally sound environment.”
