Eddie Irvine races away with win over Amateurs

Dromore Amateurs U10s 0

Eddie Irvine 3

DROMORE’S U10s hosted Eddie Irvine in a league match on Wednesday night.

The home team’s plans were disrupted due to some of the kids being unavailable through injury and with being away on a school trip.

Some of the kids had to play in different positions, in particular M Crossey and K Taggart who played in defence. Dromore as in previous games were wonderful in their attacking play and as the early chances came and went.

It was M Brush who had the best chance after some fine close control and a sudden burst of pace through the Eddie Irvine defence saw him one on one with the opposing goalie only to see his effort drift wide.

It was the Eddie Irvine side that opened the scoring after a strong effort got passed M Johnston in the Dromore goal.

The Dromore defence were now at their peak and were thwarting the opposing forwards with some strong ball winning from K Taggart, C McCarthy and B Johnston and the highlight being M Crossey saving a certain goal with a dramatic clearance of the line at the last moment.

The wind was knocked out of the home side as Eddie Irvine were awarded three penalties in the remainder of the game with one being missed and two being scored.

But credit to the young team as they kept playing their fine football to the end and can take a lot of heart from their performance, as the whole team played really well.

The George Best Man of the Match award went to M Brush and the Coaches award went to M Crossey.

Thursday April 22 sees Dromore U10s travel to Ards Youth in another league encounter.
