Eglish’s Roisin carves a niche in GAA history

Eglish woman Roisin Jordan carved her own little niche in GAA history on Tuesday night when she was elected without opposition as the first ever female county chair, fellow nominees Donal Magee and Eugene McConnell withdrawing their names from the race.

The St.Patrick’s club mother of four was always going to be the obvious choice for the top post in Tyrone, having been vice-chair to Ciaran McLaughlin for the last five years. And she was delighted to have the trust of the clubs placed in her.

“I am delighted and honoured to have been elected as the new chairperson. Tyrone is leading the way again and it’s great” stated the former camogie player,

“I am looking forward to the challenge. I like to win and I hope there will be plenty of silverware coming to the county in the next few years” she added
