Elaine chalks up a double at Bushfoot

ELAINE McConnell was the crème de la creme at Bushfoot as she won the Ladies Open competition sponsored by Ballyrashane Creamery.

Elaine returned 37 points to take first place with Barbara Dyer second on 36 points on a better back nine from Aileen Reid in third. Gail Morrow took fourth place with 35 points.

The early starters had to endure awful weather conditions with blinding rain and strong winds, while the afternoon players enjoyed dry conditions with a breeze keeping them cool.

The Lady Captain Mrs Helen Creighton wishes to express sincere thanks to Mr Francis Kerr, director of Ballyrashane Creamery, for the very generous sponsorship of this competition.

Helen won the front nine prize with 19 points while R Watters from Greenacres Golf Club took the back nine honours with 18 points.

The gross prize was won by Finnoula McGrady of Dunmurry Golf Club with 22 gross points.

The other highlight of the day was a hole in one by Mrs Sandy Neill.

Elaine McConnell made it a double as she lifted the Dundarave Cup with a nett 65.

Audrey Jamieson was the runner-up with a nett 69 and Helen Clarke came home third with a nett 70. Audrey also had the only two of the day.

Meanwhile, the Bryan Rose Bowl was won by Gillian McKenna with a fantastic nett 69.

Gail Morrow secured seconnd place with a nett 67 and Jenny Wilson was third with a nett 68. Jill McIlroy had the only two of the day.
