Emphatic win as Lurgan close gap at the top

Lurgan Bowling Club Seniors secured a second emphatic scoring victory in a row with this strong performance securing all seven points.

Lurgan are now halfway through their league campaign and sit second only four points behind league leaders Carrick as they attempt to bounce back to the first division at the first attempt.

On Rink 1 Gerry Stewart, David Millar, Steven Poots and skip Alan Roberts were nip and tuck the whole way through the game as Newtownabbey skip D Mullan kept the game tight and only in the last few ends did Lurgan secure the winning shots scoring 5 unanswered shots in the closing two ends to win 22-18

On Rink 2 Ivor Mitchell, Bobby Boness, Reece Millar and skip Harry Cosgrove started well against Newtownabbey rink skipped by G White. However the home rink didn’t have it all their own way as the away four fought back hard, the Lurgan four finished strong winning 28-22

On Rink 3 Ronnie McCullough, Jeff McCullough, John Gilliland and skip R.M. Montgomery, shared the opening half of the game against skip C Mullan. Before exploding into life in the second half narrowly missing a perfect hot shot scoring 7 shots in one end, the Lurgan rink winning 34-13

On Rink 4 Neil Sloan, Declan McCabrey, Gareth Bunting and skip Michael Bunting, traded early blows with skip A Mayne before a strong rink performance saw the Lurgan four lose only 6 ends throughout the game. The home four punished the away rink for some slack bowling scoring heavily winning 32-10
