End of an era for Pike at Rangers

THE STUART Pike era officially came to an end at Newington Rangers' annual Player of the Year dinner, held on Friday night at the Blue Circle Sailing Club, Magheramorne.

While Stuart was bringing the curtain down on his four years as manager, before heading off to take up the role of Billy Clarke's assistant at Championship 2 side Moyola Park, he said: "Tonight is all about the players, and the work they've put in all season – it's their night."

"Some people will say, we didn't win the league, we didn't challenge, neither the firsts nor the seconds, but you shouldn't forget both teams went up a league this season.

We managed to leave our mark – and we reached a final ourselves at the end of the season, it's just a pity we didn't win.
