Endurance challenge will test me to my limit: Brice

Three-time Cycling Ulster champion and and current leader of the Women’s National League, Glengormley’s Amy Brice, is set to tackle one of the world’s highest and toughest long-distance cycling events this month.

Brice, who works for Chain Reaction Cycles in Mallusk, races competitively throughout Ireland, UK and Europe. She’s gearing up to conquer three Haute Route events, taking in the Dolomites, Alps and Pyrenees as part of the cyclosportive event.

The 26-year-old was due to leave for Venice on Thursday (August 14) and the challenge begins today. She is due to arrive in Geneva on August 22.

She will then be back on the bike to complete the next seven stages, taking her to Nice, Barcelona, through the Pyrenees and on to Biarritz on September 7.

“This is a huge endurance challenge that will test me to my limit,” she admitted. “I’m approaching one of the most daunting challenges I could set myself, but I’m looking forward to it.”
