Enthusiastic Fifths get revenge on Ards

Dromore Ladies Fifths 1

Ards Ladies Fourths 0

DROMORE Ladies Fifths were anxious to play a match as their last game against Newry Second had been cancelled as Newry couldn’t field a team.

It was very cold and foggy but the Fives where enthusiastic to start the game.

The play started off evenly but towards the end of the first half Keira Walker, Ashton Tolerton and Lynne Nesbitt had great opportunities in the circle but unfortunately couldn’t secure a result.

After an encouraging talk at half time Dromore came out determined to score. Andrea Wilson received the ball in midfield, crossed the ball to Keira Walker at the top of the circle who slipped the ball to Ashton Tolerton on the left. She took a shoot at the goal but the keeper saved the shot and kicked the ball straight back to Tolerton who controlled the ball, drew out the keeper and with her reverse stick and slotted the ball in the back of the net.

The rest of the game was quite even with Ards having a shot at Dromore keeper Lois Cobb who made a great save.

So the score ended with Dromore winning 1-0. This was a great result as the last time the two sides met the game ended in a draw.

Dame of the Game went to Jenny Ewing for her constant determination, never giving up. Thanks to Rebecca Martin for umpiring.
