Eoghan Rua hold a low key AGM

A large number of members attended Eoghan Rua's Annual General Meeting last Sunday afternoon, and the first, at their new pavilion.

It proved to be a rather low key affair as members digested the reports presented by the club’s secretary and treasurer. Both reports indicated the club had completed a more than satisfactory season both on and off the field of play.

Meanwhile the club’s chairman John Montgomery commended the senior teams and their coaches for the success they had brought to Eoghan Rua last year.

He also praised the work being carried out at under-age level across all three codes not just in 2009 but in previous years, this ongoing work has led to the success in recent years on the field of play.

The chairman also referred to the completion of the club’s new pavilion in March this year which, he said, was a significant milestone in Eoghan Rua’s facilities development programme. However John did say that the Eoghan Rua club must continue to look to the future to ensure they maintain the progress that has been evident in recent years.

That view was echoed in the only motion brought to the Annual General Meeting for discussion. During his recent visit to Eoghan Rua the GAA President Christy Cooney recommended that the club should have a comprehensive Development Plan.

To that end the Eoghan Rua members unanimously supported a motion to convene a Development Day at which an inclusive and wide ranging consultation and discussion on the development of the club will take place. The intended outcome of this initiative will be a new Club Development Programme for the next five years that reflects the aspirations and ambitions of Eoghan Rua GAC.

Tasked with taking this ambitious plan forward will be the 2010 officer board and committee that was elected at the club’s AGM as follows: Chairman: John Montgomery; Vice-chairman: Brendan McLernon; Secretary: Kevin Mullan; Assistant Secretary: Vinty McMahon: Treasurer: Paddy McTaggart; Assistant Treasurer: Paul Grant; General committee: Tony Butler, Richard Carey, John Gaile, Brian Lenehan, Hugh Mooney, Eamon Mulholland, Bob Murphy, Schira McGoldrick, Sean McGoldrick, Stephen McKillop, Bob McWilliams, Joe Passmore, Lesley Reynolds, Billy Shiels, Pamela Sweeny, Seamie Toman.

Eoghan Rua Lotto: Sunday, January 10, no jackpot winner. Numbers: 6; 8; 17; 18. 25 winner Carol Grant (Portstewart). Sunday, January 17, jackpot 2,400.
