Erin retains Irish u-25 indoor title

ERIN Smith recently cemented her standing as the top under-25 female bowler in Ireland.

The Ballymena bowler won both the indoor and outdoor titles in her age group in 2011.

And she has carried that good form into 2012 by retaining her indoor crown recently.

The Grangegorm Avenue woman beat Cliodhna Eadie from the host club 21-11 in the finals, which were played at Belfast Bowling Club.

At the age of 21, Erin still has time on her side as she attempts to emulate Catherine Beattie’s record of five Irish titles at under-25 level.

As Irish champion, Erin qualified for the British Isles series, where her interest was ended by a Jersey opponent at the quarter-final stage.

Her Irish success also qualifies her to compete in the World Championships in October
