European Championships ticketing scheme delayed

THE Irish FA would normally launch their Block Booking scheme in the spring before the commencement of the European qualifying campaign, however this year will be different.

This year the launch of the scheme will unfortunately be delayed due to a number of factors regarding Windsor Park, including some remedial work to the North Stand roof, forward evacuation from the North and West stands and re-grading of the pitch run-offs, and completion of a safety review of the stadium being undertaken by Belfast City Council under the Safety of Sports grounds (Northern Ireland) Order legislation which will take place over the coming months.

The Irish FA is working with the statutory bodies such as Belfast City Council, SportNI and with Linfield Football Club to maximise the future capacity of Windsor Park for International and Domestic games.

The Association will continue to investigate all possible options to ensure they maintain the seating capacity at the stadium for fans, and they are currently investigating the feasibility of the installation of some temporary seating (which will be subject to approval by UEFA and relevant Health and Safety authorities).

The Irish FA recently met with representatives from the Amalgamation of Northern Ireland Supporters Clubs to provide an update on the situation and they will continue to do so as further information becomes available.

The Association will continue to do everything in its powers to ensure the capacity at Windsor Park remains as high as possible, and once they have the necessary information available from the safety review they will inform all the Block Booking embers accordingly, and commence the sale of Block Booking tickets.
