Evergreen Smith salvages a point for Rasharkin in injury time

Ballymena and Provincial Football League sponsored by Michelin Athletic Club

WITH the heavy rain in places on Friday things were looking bleak but with it being dry overnight the fixtures across the four divisions were played.

It would be nice to reach Christmas with no games being lost to the weather

Ballycastle started off well and had Portglenone on the defensive before Niall Campbell opened the scoring for them on the 25th minute. After this Portglenone got settled down and a good goal scored by Colin Murray on the 35th minute saw them back on level terms at half-time. Portglenone then went in front on the 47th minute after Colin Craig scored then a third goal when Colin Craig scored by from the penalty spot on the 80th minute saw them two goals clear. Ballycastle came back to narrow the gap after Donal McCloy scored on the 87th minute but with the game in stoppage time Colin Murray scored number four for Portglenone.

Referee Mr Hugh McElwee

Rasharkin United 2 v 2 Dunloy

It was a very late stoppage time goal that gave Rasharkin a point from this game and Dunloy must be kicking themselves that they failed to close out the game.

Dunloy got off to a great start after Aaron Dickey opened the scoring for them on the second minute but Rasharkin soon replied to this with Karl Smith scoring on the eighth minute.

After this chances came and went for both teams but no more goals were scored until Paul Fisher put Dunloy back in front on the 79th minute.

Rasharkin then threw caution to the wind in an effort to get back level but Dunloy held out until Karl Smith scored his second goal in Injury time giving the teams a point each.

FC Ballynre 2 v 3 Clough Rangers Athletic

Ballynure can count themselves very unfortunate not to have taken a pint from this game as it was a penalty and a sending off that cost them dear. Chances were a plenty in this game and two goals from Billy Nelson replied to by two from David Nicholl for Clough saw the team’s level with time running down. Ballynure then had a man sent off for a bout of indiscretion and Clough awarded a penalty which David Nicholl scored to complete his hat-trick and win the game for Clough. Referee Mr Ivan South

Raceview 2 v 0 Cookstown Olympic

Junior Division One

Ballyclare Comrades Reserves Reserves 3 v 0 Finvoy

This was another good win for the home side but Finvoy can certainly take a lot from the game even though having lost it. The Comrades goals we scored by two for player/manager Kingsley Burrows and one from Brian Wilson. Referee Mr Tom Stewart

Ballymoney United Reserves 0 v 1 Glebe Rangers Reserves

Though only one goal was scored in the game this was a cracking game of football from both teams and had everyone on their toes until the final whistle.
