McLaughlin now has a senior role within the province’s academy development system and his main focus is to develop underage talent with a view to identifying future Ulster players.

He has already led a training session at the school and will return at least once a month to continue the skills development of the players - a role he held with the full Ireland team under Eddie O’Sullivan, prior to becoming Ulster coach.

The school got in touch with the Times to say the boys thoroughly enjoyed the session and that McLaughlin left suitably impressed.
