Fantastic turnout for James Elliott Tournament

THE James Elliott Football Tournament was held on Wednesday at the Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre.

This was a fantastic afternoon with 31 teams from local primary schools taking part in a tournament to raise money for The Community Rescue Service.

The winners of the tournament were William Pinkerton Memorial in the Small Schools group with Eden as runners up and Harpurs Hill in the Large Schools group with Bushvalley as runner ups.

Special awards went to Thomas McNeill from Bushvalley and to Kenny Kane from William Pinkerton Memorial for players of the tournament. Fair Play Trophies were awarded to Clough and D.H Christie.

The awards were presented by Peter Thompson and Damien Curran from Linfield Football Club.

Caroline Irwin a teacher from Bushvalley Primary would like to express her sincere thanks to the JDLC and especially to John Fall in helping her organise the tournament and also to Ballymoney Borough Council for the football grounds.

Caroline would also like to take this opportunity to express her deepest thanks to the IFA and Linfeld Football Club for all their help and support and also to Choice Cut Butchers in Ballymoney for supplying all the meat, Tesco’s in Coleraine for supplying the bread rolls, Maine Minerals for all the drinks, The Henderson group for the crisps, Gaults in Ballymoney, Cassells and Huey and Henderson for donating fantastic raffle prizes, the referees who gave of their time, parents, teachers and friends for their support and lastly to Libby McIllhatton and Ruth Ramsay for an endless supply of delicious burgers and sausages.

It was a fun filled afternoon where an outstanding amount of 1300 was raised for The Community Rescue Service.
