South had an excellent start to the match, working hard in midfield and pushing forward, testing the Ballymena defence. Strong attacking play from Danielle Heasley and Laura McConnell put Ballymena under pressure and the duo gave South the lead early on after an excellent pass from Danielle was converted by Laura.

South continued to push forward, with Amy Wright working tirelessly in midfield and creating plenty of opportunities.

Despite winning several penalty corners and fantastic strikes from Anna McFarland and Amy Wright, the Ballymena defence remained strong, denying South any more goals.

During the second half, Ballymena fought back but the South defence held with Louise Boyd putting in solid tackles.

Unfortunately for South, Ballymena equalised late on in the second half despite superb defending from the back line in particular from Catherine Faulkner.

South Ladies Second XI featured several new players who are keen to secure their place on the team. It looks set to be an exciting and, they hope, a successful season for the South Ladies.

Player of the match was Catherine Faulkner.
