FC United and Clonduff upset the odds in Gordon Hanna Trophy victories

There was a night of shocks when two Division One teams beat Premier Division opposition in the Gordon Hanna Trophy.

Ryan Nixon 2, Neil McCall and Simon Hall scored for FC Utd Lisburn in a shock 4-2 win over Glaston. The teams had drawn 3-3 a week earlier in a match abandoned without penalties being taken because of bad light.

FC had also beaten Warren YM in the previous round, though they lost 2-1 to Clonduff YM two nights earlier in the Supplementary Cup semi-final.

Clonduff were the other shock troopers with Ryan Nixon scoring all three goals in a 3-2 win over Ballymacash YM. Dexter and Jess got the Ballymacash goals.

Normality was restored when Bloomfield III beat Belvoir FC II 6-1 with Dickson getting five of the goals and McCreery the other one.

PREMIER DIVISION

Warren take a step closer

Warren YM took a step closer towards winning the Premier Division when they beat Sandy Row 3-2 on Tuesday night.

Neil Donaghy, Stuart Adams and Chris Hull got the goals which put the four points ahead of Ballymacash YM at the top with two games remaining.

Sandy Row won 3-2 away to Ballynafeigh YM on Thursday night.

In Division One on Saturday, FC Utd Lisburn beat South Antrim 5-1 with goals from Ryan Nixon, Andy Doran 2, Brian McCall and Lee Furfey.

Champions, Clonduff YM, came back from 0-2 down after 20 minutes to beat Belvoir FC II 4-3 through Ryan Craig, Lewis Robinson and returning after injury, Jonny Bowes 2.

SUPPLEMENTARY CUP AND PLATE

First v Clonduff in Plate final

The final of the Supplementary Plate will feature First Lisburn and Division One winners, Clonduff YM towards the end of the season.

Both had 2-1 wins in the semi-finals on Tuesday night with a Tommy Roy goal for FC Utd Lisburn failing to stop Clonduff.

A Chris Weir volley from 20 yards put First ahead in the other semi-final, but Clarawood YM equalised from the penalty spot early in the second-half.

Goals from Paddy McCann and Conor Hughes gave Glaston a 2-0 win over Bloomfield III in the Supplementary Cup on Tuesday night and they followed up with a 5-1 win over Bloomfield III on Saturday thanks to goals from Conor Hughes, Alan McDonnell, Steven Connolly and Jim Millan.

Braniel YM beat Belvoir FC 2-1 and went on to hammer Orangefield OB III 9-0 on Saturday.

Sandy Row had a 5-0 win over Lambeg Rangers with goals from Paul Hill, Curtis Moorhead, Colin Cooper, Jim Curry and Ryan Hinds.

After a scoreless first half, Ballynafeigh YM then pulled back to 1-1 but lost 2-4 to Ballymacash YM

WHITESIDE CUP

Braniel YM eased through in the Whiteside Cup (formerly called Division Two Cup) with a 5-0 wn over Lambeg Rangers II.

Cregagh Wanderers also reached the knock-out stages with a 4-3 win over Newtown Forest III on Thursday night.

On Saturday, Lisburn Athletic styayed in the hunt for a semi-final place with a 4-2 win over Clonduff YM II with Steven Tierney getting two, Chris Dickson and Gordon Frazer.

Eddie Ferguson hit four goals in the 8-2 win for Warren YM II over Carrowdore YM with James Lyness 2, Glen Davidson and Gerry Wilson getting the others.

Cregagh Wanderers squeezed past Lambeg Rangers II 2-1 with Graham Montgomery and Matthew McFall scoring and James Stewart replying for Lambeg.

Braniel YM II had a 9-0 win over Newtown Forest III and Ballymacash YM III beat Glenavy III 1-0.
