Fifths are held

LISNAGARVEY Fifths put in a strong performance and were disappointed to only come away with a draw against a hard working Ballynahinch Seconds on Friday night at Comber Road.

After a scrappy start, with both sides giving away possession, the Fifths clicked into gear as both Rupert Pinion and Jordan Fitzpatrick combined well in a flowing left wing move resulting in the ever-green Pinion striking the opener from close range.

Garvey should have extended their lead as they began to take a grip on the game but following a swift counter attack Ballynahinch were awarded a penalty corner that was strongly struck into the bottom corner of the home goal to draw the sides level.

A powerfully hit shot shortly into the second half took a wicked deflection off the advancing Andy Watt and flew into the Garvey net giving the keeper no chance.

A penalty flick by Murray well saved by the ‘Hinch keeper. As the possession increased further Garvey finally got the equaliser they deserved with a typical rocket from Bonar from the edge of the circle bringing the game level at 2-2 with time still left.

Ballynahinch stood firm and claimed a draw but Garvey will consider themselves somewhat unlucky not to have taken all three points.
