Fifths continue impressive form

South Fifths started the new year with a home match against Instonian Fifths hoping to continue with their recent improvement in form.

Inst started the match quicker than South and for the first 10 minutes had South on the back foot but without creating and clear chances.

South battled back into the game and finished the first half stronger but still no goals.

The second half was closely contested but with the hosts now slightly on top and creating more chances.

With 10 minutes remaining Shane Geary won the ball at the half way line.

He beat the remaining defender and with the keeper advancing passed the ball to young Archie Collins who calmly slotted the ball into an open net.

Inst tried to respond but South’s defence were solid with Andrew Wallace denying the Inst centre forward.

Final score 1-0 to South and another well deserved three points.
