Fifths hit ‘Quins for six

South Fifths secured a 6-1 win when they took on Harlequin Fourths recently.

South started the match brightly and had the visitors penned into their own half.

Within five minutes Chris Moulden put South one-up having dribbled the ball into the circle and put the ball through the keepers legs. Five minutes later McElhinney got number two with a tap in at the back post.

A well worked move ended with Andy Brown adding a third. Moulden soon made it four with a reverse short into the corner.

McElhinney then made it five when he deflected in a cross from right wing.

Another short corner resulted in Massey thundering the ball into the back boards to give South a 6-0 lead at half time.

The second half was a different affair with Harlequin’s organising themselves.

With 15 minutes remaining a Harlequin’s counter attack resulted in a consolation goal.

South Fifths go to Bangor Fifths next week in the Minor Cup hoping to proceed to the semi finals.
