Fifths unbeaten run stretches to six games

GARVEY Fifths entertained Campbellians Seconds to Comber Road on Saturday and played out a 3-3 draw.

The visitors were first to score after 20 minutes with a good shot from the edge of the circle but Garvey immediately replied with a reverse stick volley shot by Ryan Getty to level the score at 1-1.

Campbellians exerted a lot of pressure on the Garvey team and deserved to take the lead again with a well executed penalty corner just before the half time break.

The visitors stretched their lead to 3-1 with another set piece early in the second half but the stubborn Fifths finished strongly. Andy Nye pulled a goal back to 3-2 with a penalty corner strike and with 10 minutes left in a difficult afternoon, Thomas Matthewson brought the sides level and his team had grabbed a hard fought league point against the odds.

This drawn match takes the Fifths unbeaten run to six and sees them well situated in Junior 3.
