Final delight for Wallace

WALLACE High School has enjoyed a successful cricket week with the Firsts reaching the final of the Schools' Cup Plate and the under 15s reaching the final of the prestigious Under 15 Schools' Cup final.

The Firsts travelled the long road to Limavady Grammar and returned with a nail biting two wicket victory. Limavady batted first and scored 119 in their 24 overs, James McCallan (4 for 33) and Richard Brownlee (4 for 30) the pick of the bowlers for the Lisburn school who then chased the score down with 9 balls to spare. Matthew Ballantyne was the star performer with the bat with a beautifully constructed 54, while the under rated Michael Keery and McCallan chipped in with important scores of 17. They now face Ballyclare High School in the final.

On a beautiful sunny day last week, the under 15s defeated Methody in the semi final of their Schools' Cup. The Lisburn lads totalled 178 in their 28 overs where again James McCallan was the standout performer wth a real captain's knock of 95 not out. Tight bowling from Mark Hylands helped to restict the Belfast school at the start of their innings before Jake Clements (5 for 10) and Ryan Moore (3 for 21) wrapped up a comfortable victory. The boys now face Limavady Grammar in this prestigious final at Dungannon Park.
