Final tour date of the year for Ballymena Road Club stalwarts

The thirteenth and final ride in this year’s fun tour series took place on Saturday morning. The weather was once again less than favourable resulting in a smaller than usual turnout of 35 riders.

The riders in the touring section group, who have been going a bit further this season, completed a 40 miles ride to Randalstown, Cranfield, Toomebridge, Bellaghy and Portglenone, then up Tully and back through Ahoghill.

The full list of the 2015 series medallists reads: Gold for thirteen tours; Alan and Rhonda Donegan, Paddy Mooney and Pius McKernan.

Bronze for six tours; Dale Bonnar, Danielle Gillespie, Paul McWilliams, Lori Phillips, John Shaw and Gary Worthington.

Bronze for five tours; Desi Agnew, G.B., Laura Blair, Rex Bonar, Eileen Burns, David Currie, Peter Cuthbert, Derek Dougan, Niall Hopkins, John Maxwell, Shannon Millar, Kay Rainey and Wilnor Worthington.

This Saturday sees the Ballymena Road Club tourists take part in their annual charity ride to The Water Wall at Clady.

Fellow cyclist Paddy Mooney of Bann Valley is the host and he will serve up soup and sandwiches for all participants.

A minimum donation of £5 is expected with all proceeds going to Marie Curie Cancer Care. The group will depart from Rex Bonar house at 9.30am.
