Fingers crossed for Bowl final

FOYLE and Londonderry College rugby players will have their fingers crossed that the Northern Bank Ulster Schools Bowl final against Grosvenor Grammar School, will take place at Ravenhill, today (Friday KO 2.30pm).

Last Wednesday's encounter in Belfast was postponed due to lying water on the Ravenhill pitch but Foyle coach Gerald McCarter believes his players will be ready for this week's test.

"Obviously everyone involved in the game was disappointed it was called off last week, but the fact that the final is still at Ravenhill will mean the players will still be up for the game," he said.

On the plus side one of Foyle's potential match winners Ian Vance has had more time to recover from a recent ankle injury, while the Schools Seconds have also reached the quarter-finals of their respective competition.

"Ian picked up an ankle injury during the warm-up of the Larne Grammar game and had to come off before half-time in the match, so the extra ten days will certainly help him.

"Our Seconds also had a fantastic 19-0 win over Rainey at the weekend and have now reached the quarter-finals, which is fantastic for them," said Gerald.
