Firsts start season off with a win

The visitors crossed the line with only 10 minutes gone as Oliver McDowell barged over. The conversion was missed.

The home side drew level 10 minutes later after sustained pressure they worked the ball out wide and the winger went over in the corner. The conversion was also missed.

Into the second half and BHS slotted over a penalty in front of the posts. They added a second penalty two minutes later.

Inst grabbed their second try of the game on 50 minutes. Some good play and recycling saw prop Mac O’Neill make a burst for the line, he was stopped short but hooker David Greatorex picked up and dived over the line.

Coleraine were well on top and they struck again on 55 minutes. Some strong running by second row pair George MKeag and James Bleakly made inroads, in the end McDowell burst through again to grab his second try of the game. Callum Smith converted.

From the kick off, CAI went right back on the attack. Some excellent handling and off loads saw them back in the BHS 22. Unfortunately a knock on on the BHS goal line prevented another CAI try. From the scrum the BHS prop suffered a serious knee injury and the match was blown up with five mins to play.

Coaches Richard Beggs and Stephen Douglas were happy with the result and aspects of the performance.

The Seconds earned a hard fought 5-0 win over BHS. Despite a frustrating and broken up encounter can be encouraged by gaining a victory in the opening fixture of the 2014/15 season.

The Medallion squad ran out comfortable 41-12 winners at home to Foyle College. Coach Richard Boyd was delighted with his young charges performance and is looking to the rest of the season with relish.

The Under-13s had an impressive 50-5 win over Foyle in their opener.
