Fishery hosts charity day

Islandderry Trout Anglers held their annual Hugh Brunty Memorial Competition in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support recently at Islandderry Fishery, Dromore.

As always there was a lot of support for the cause with so many prizes donated that every angler went home with a prize and there was a total of £760 raised for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Prizes were for the heaviest bag of three trout with first place going to Liam Brunty, Belfast with three fish for 16lb1 while brother and boat partner Paddy took second place with three fish for 13lb10.

This meant a lot to Liam and Paddy as it was their brother Hugh that the competition was in memory of.

Third place went to last year’s winner Davy Clements, Banbridge with three fish for 12lb7.

Club members Ronnie McFadden, Lisburn and Davy Thomson, Lisburn battled out for 4th place with Ronnie’s three fish weight of 11lb10 beating Davy’s 10lb12 weight into fourth place.

The heaviest fish of the day went to Noel Roberts, Donaghacloney with a lovely trout of 8lb12.
