Fit N Running duo make light of awful conditions at Ballyclare event

Fit N Running athletes Pauline Thom and Mark McKinstry continued their fine form at Ballyclare on Saturday afternoon.

They were competing in the Malcolm Cup X Country event in some particularly testing weather conditions.

Pauline, who has revived her racing career this year following a long break from thye sport, won her age category over 3 miles on a heavily waterlogged course.

She finished 5th female overall as she continues to impress in her racing comeback.

Pauline finished in 19mins 57secs with the race being won by Olympic triathlete Aileen Reid.

Mark McKinstry finished 2nd in the male open race over 4 miles from a quality field.

He powered his way through the atrocious conditions to finish in 22mins 34 secs.

Race winner Seamus Lynch of Newcastle finished with a 10 second advantage.

WEEKLY TRAINING

Fit N Running run a number of weekly sessions, geared towards all levels of participants.

The times are as follows:

Monday 615pm Recreational Run.

Tuesday 615pm Advanced Run.

Wednesday 615pm Conditioning Circuit.

All these sessions are from the Michelin Athletic Club on the Woodside Road in Ballymena. New comers are always welcome.
