Fit N Running members excel at Fairhill road race

Fit N Running had 11 athletes in action as Ballymena Runners hosted the Fairhill 5 mile road race in perfect conditions recently.

It was the the in form Mark McKinstry with Brian Camphell of Willowfield who lead the record turnout of 477 runners through the first mile. It was neck and neck throughout before Camphell made a decisive break 1k out to claim victory in 25mins 58secs with the fast finishing McKinstry a close 2nd in 26mins 4secs.

Also in action for Fit N Running were Conor McQuillan who finished in a personal best of 28mins 53secs in 20th.

Vernon Shiels also recorded a new best of 29mins 52secs in 34th place.

Colin Apperley recorded his 3rd personal best in a month with a 4min improvement when he clocked 31min 7secs in 56th place. Conor Shielis continues his comeback following a break after his spring Marathon when he finished in 31mins 58secs.

Liam Gribben ran a new best of 36mins 18secs as did James Anderson and Alison Gribben who finished together in 41mins 14secs.

Grace Snoody, Kim Close and Rosie McIlroy ran together and finished in 54mins.

Tuesday 615pm Advanced Run.

Wednesday 615pm Conditioning Circuit.

There is also an adfitional session on Saturday morning for the advanced group.

All these sessions are from the Michelin Athletic Club on the Woodside Road in Ballymena. New comers are always welcome.
