Five star South Fifths sink Lisnagarvey Sixth side

South Antrim Fifths 5

Lisnagarvey Sixths 0

South Fifths got 2014 underway with a rivals match against Lisnagarvey Sixths.

As you would expect from a local derby, the game started off at a frantic pace with neither side causing too much trouble for their opposition.

South managed to settle down first and created a number of openings through Chris Black and Neil Wilson.

These two combined midway through the first half with Black feeding Wilson who skipped past the keeper and placed a shot into the net from a tight angle putting the home side 1 up.

The next two goals came in quick succession as Garvey were caught napping with too many players searching for an equalizer.

Graeme Alister got the first and Pete Carey the second. Both came from Nathan Alister assists.

The second half started the same as the first with both teams competing at a very high pace but with very little control.

But again, South settled the quicker of the two teams and scored two further goals.

Neil Wilson found the net again then Aaron McKeown rounded the keeper to bag one for himself.

Special mention must go to Aaron Pyper for clearing one off the line midway through the second half.

Thank you to Eric Cunningham and Ian Glass for umpiring and to South’s Sponsors of the Month, Fred Dalzell and Partners.
