Flights take a big step towards the title

Sperrin Flights took a step closer to the League title this week as they swept aside the Social Club with an outstanding team performance.

Nearest challengers Berthas Bar and Villa Swifts both suffered unexpected defeats in their games against Villa and Kellys Inn respectively. The only other game this week saw Third Tree from Garvagh claim their second win of the season against a struggling Sperrin. Scotch House A and Scotch House B’s games were both called off this week due to a bereavement.

Despite there being just four games this week there were a total of eight 180s hit this week: Joe McLaughlin, Barry McLaughlin x 2, James Walker (Sperrin Flights), Francis Kelly, Philip Moffitt (Villa), Paul Montgomery (Kellys Inn) and Gerard Dallas (Villa Swifts) all recorded maximums as well as this Barry McLaughlin also recorded a 177 and Gary Watton 174 (Sperrin Flights). The Highest Checkout this week was 115 by Eamon Guyler (Berthas) while teammate David Finlay finished on an impressive 100.

The League wish to pass on their condolences to the family of League members Richard and Mark McKeown of the Scotch House after the loss of a family member.

The first night of the Iris Walsh League Individuals will be played this coming Friday (24th January) in Berthas Bar, Castlerock. There are 94 entries this year and players are asked to be in the venue and registered for 8:45pm so games can begin at 9pm sharp.
