The tournament had been run by the late Bryan Magrath for many years and it was fitting that this wife, Karen was present on the first night of the tournament to switch on the new floodlights.

A total of 32 pairs took part in the competition and on Friday night the competition reached the semi final stages. In the first semi final Burns/Todd (Larne) took on Kyle/McKee (Larne/Bangor) and it was the Kyle/McKee who came out on top with a comfortable victory.

This was a very close game and in fact after 20 of the 21 ends had been completed the scores were level and after a very tense final end it was the Duncan combination that made it through to the final on Monday night.
