FOOTBALL: August 7 kick off for Bannsiders

COLERAINE will kick off their new Carling Premiership season on Saturday, August 7 with a home fixture.

The Bannsiders will renew acquaintances with former manager Marty Quinn as Glenavon visit the Showgrounds on the opening day.

This will be followed up with a visit to the Oval on August 14 and another attractive fixture against Crusaders at Ballycastle Road on August 21.

David Platt's team will complete a tough opening month with a visit to 2009-10 champions Linfield on August 28 and host Tommy Wright's Lisburn Distillery on August 31.

The Irish Football Association last week released the fixture calendar for the 2010/11 campaign.

The IFA Championship 1 and 2 seasons will also start on August 7.

The County Antrim Shield final will be played on Tuesday, November 30, with the Steel and Sons Cup final being played on its traditional Christmas Day morning.

The final of the Co-operative Insurance Cup will be played at the later date of Saturday, April 2.

The last day of the Carling Premiership campaign will be Saturday, April 30, with the end-of-season highlight – the Irish Cup final – being played on May 7.
