FOOTBALL: Millburn and St Malachy's ready for Doherty Cup final

Local schools' football showpiece final will, as usual, will be played at Coleraine Showgrounds with the action getting under way at 7pm with a big crowd expected on the night.

Millburn, who defeated St John's 2-0 in the semi finals, are hoping to make it back-to-back wins.

Here's a look at their squad by their coach Mr McClean:

Goalkeepers

Dylan Godfrey - The joker in the pack who made a number of vital saves in the semi final.

Jordan McLester - A real team player and a very reliable understudy.

Defenders

Owen McLaughlin - Has a sweet left peg and has made the left back spot his own despite only being in P6.

Dylan Hull - The most improved player in the squad who never shirks a tackle.

Andrew Black - He scored the winner in last year's final and has been a solid performer all year.

Jamie Smith - Also played in last year's final, but he missed out on this year's semi final due to the volcano in Iceland.

Jordan Holmes - Performed heroics in the semi final and loves a physical battle.

Midfielders

Jamie Ellis - A set piece expert who was also part of last year's squad.

Morgan Vary - He excelled in the semi final and loves running at defenders.

Adam Harte - Team captain who also played in last year's final. Box to box midfielder who leads by example.

Ross McVicker - Another player who played last year and has popped up with some important goals.

Jason Goldie - Another player from P6 but he has played a vital role in Millburn getting to the final.

Samuel Jamieson - A tidy footballer who has great versatility.

Troy Dickson - His season has been blighted by injury but he is a very talented footballer with a great left foot.

Forwards

Andrew McAfee - One of the most technically gifted players in the squad, scored a hat-trick in the first round.

Jordan Walker - Top scorer this season, he always creates problems for defenders.

Andrew McClean - A natural goal scorer who will punish any mistakes in front of goal.

Ryan McCloy - Still only in P6 he has an excellent attitude and is sure to be a key player next year.

St Malachy's though will be looking to throw a spanner in the works and as their coach Mr McAleese reveals, they have the squad capable of doing it:Goalkeeper

Brandon Stockman - In his final year at the school and the Coleraine Academy keeper is a real asset to the team.

Defenders

Sean Kennedy - Another Coleraine player who is a more than capable defender.

Ewan Rogers - One of a number of 10-year-olds in the squad who will rise to the occasion.

Aidan Boyle - Is a keen Manchester United fan and is a very good defender.

Oskar Gruszewski - An important member of the defensive unit.

Noah Lundy - Another 10-year-old who always works hard.

Midfielders

Kyle McGonigle - The team captain who also plays for Bertie Peacock Youths, the driving force from midfield.

Lukas Condren - The 10-year-old plays for Limavady and has a good eye for a pass.

Callum Kneeland - Another Coleraine Academy player who will enjoy the space at The Showgrounds.

Kori Doherty - The 9-year-old plays his club football for Coleraine and will be a key player for the school again next year.

Forwards

Oran Kneeland - The 10-year-old has an eye for goal and is always a threat in the box.

Aaron Doherty - The Coleraine Academy player will cause defences problems.

Johnathan Ferguson - The Liverpool supporter will be hoping to pop up with another vital goal like his hero Fernando Torres.

Krysztof Silakowski - Is a key player for Coleraine Academy and has scored a number of good goals this season.

Luke McKendry - The youngest member of the squad at only 8-years-old but he will gain valuable experience from the final. Box to box midfielder who leads by example.
